Staying Organized in NLPatent (Save Results + Sections)

When conducting a patent search in NLPatent, results are ranked by their semantic similarity to your query. Saving patents or specific sections allows you to organize relevant findings, revisit them easily, and refine or export your results as needed. This guide explains how to save full patents or highlight specific sections, and how these saved items support your workflow.

Saving an Entire Patent

If a full patent is relevant to your search:

  1. Click the Save Patent button in the upper left corner of the patent view.
  2. The patent will be added to your Saved tab.
  3. To remove it, simply click the Save button again to toggle it off.

💡 Note: If you later use the Refine feature, NLPatent will use the claims and description of your saved patents to improve result relevance.

Saving Relevant Sections

You can also save specific parts of a patent—such as a key paragraph or claim—for annotation or refined filtering.

To save a section:

  1. Open the patent of interest.
  2. Highlight the desired text.
  3. Click Save Section. The section will turn yellow to indicate it’s saved.

Notes on Projects with Multiple Queries

In multi-query search projects, the Saved tab is shared across all queries. This means that whether a patent comes from Query 1 or Query 2, any saved items will appear in the same list—helping you keep everything in one place.

Why Save?

Saving patents and sections lets you:

  • Organize key findings across searches
  • Customize AI refinement based on full documents or key excerpts
  • Export results in customized reports to share with clients or colleagues

These features help you stay focused, reduce review time, and ensure that you're working with the most relevant prior art.
